Briefing the officers on the modernization of the KPA and progress in military technology development, Kim Jong Un said that the army’s strategic capabilities would be greatly enhanced once the goals of the Five-Year Plan are fulfilled, bringing a major change in war deterrence capabilities. He stressed that commanding officers at all levels should continue to strengthen their class consciousness and vigilance while faithfully carrying out their duty of defending national sovereignty. Saying that the KPA defends the country with ideology and faith more than physical strength, he emphasized that ideological conviction is the source of the army’s combat capability and called for steadily intensifying ideological education to uphold the honor of the army as the world’s strongest force.
