I filed hardships with 6 credit cards 2 years ago. Ended up closing 3 of them because I just didn’t think I was going to make it out of my situation within the 12 months AND I was on the brink of being sued. Currently I have my 3 original credit cards and opened up a new one. I’m way more responsible now and my credit score is 755. 😁👍🏻 You can always bounce back.

Being kind to yourself is not putting yourself in debt with credit cards from the jump. I’m 48 and never had a credit card. If I don’t have the money which is more times than not, I don’t buy whatever it is. I do without.

Did this with Chase and Amex and they closed the cards and put me on 2% interest. $1100 a month in payments dropped to $415 😅

I did it for navy and they lowered my interest to 3% and for a year and no payments for 2 years! Hell yes I will take it!

Wells Fargo was the nicest ever for this. They let me do $50 a month for a yr then zero % for the remainder. I will never forget that kindness

I tried to get a hardship before I went past due and they said all they could do is waive the late fee 🤦♀️called 2 months later now past due and then they agreed to lower my interest rate! so basically I had to be past due before they would help 😤

I keep transferring balances to cards with 0% interest for 21+ months then set to autopay. The hardship plans were a joke.

AMEX has a payment assistance program. You pay a certain amount each month until the card is paid off, there’s no interest. But you can’t use the card until it’s paid off
