Kindness works both ways. If someone knows they need two seats, they should buy them. What about kindness to the person you’re sitting next to? They also deserve to be comfortable. As someone who is tall and also has pain sometimes from long periods of sitting, it’s not fair for me to not have the seat I paid for.

I was once on a flight, and my seat was in the middle. The two people sitting beside me were both quite large, and one of them needed a seatbelt extension because she couldn’t buckle the regular seatbelt. I started feeling very claustrophobic because I felt physically squeezed between them. I didn’t say anything or act rudely because I didn’t want to embarrass anyone, but I was extremely uncomfortable the whole time. They seemed comfortable, but I felt trapped in the middle. What should someone do in this kind of situation?

But… why should I have to be uncomfortable because someone is taking up half my seat? While I get it, I do cause I have a kid and get dirty looks (she is great on flights) but also… if you need more than one seat book two seats. I am not paying $300+ to be uncomfortable
