@dailyfindsuk365: At 1:23 AM on April 26, 1986, reactor 4 of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant exploded during a safety test conducted in what was then the Soviet Union. The explosion released radioactive material across several regions of Europe and led to the evacuation of the city of Pripyat hours later. Firefighters were dispatched to the site unaware of the extreme level of radiation present in the area. The Chernobyl disaster became one of the most serious nuclear accidents in modern history. - #chernobyl #History
