Reflecting on October, this past month had a few key matcha themes: 1️⃣ Sydney matcha pop-ups are getting HUGE - some of the best matcha in Sydney I had this month came from Sydney market stalls, namely at @kirribillimarkets, Paddington Marketd and EQ Markets🍵 2️⃣ Matcha + other tea pairings are getting super popular in the Sydney matcha scene, and I am SO here for it! Whilst last month I had a few jasmine matchas (more to come in November, stay tuned👀), in October, I had one of my favourite-ever earl grey matchas from @chachacha.au and a delicious & unique oolong matcha from Bread x Butter🍵 I say, keep the tea on tea pairings coming! 3️⃣ Hojicha is making waves in Sydney right now, with some really interesting hojicha combos starting to surface. I loved the citrusy notes of @T Totaler’s Wattle Hojicha Cloud, and I had perhaps the most delicious tiramisu latte of my life in @Matcha Run Sydney x Danube’s Hojicha Bueno Tiramisu🤎 4️⃣ The cloud/cold foam concept has been popular for a while now in the Sydney matcha scene, and it continues to be re-invented in interesting ways - take @Greenhouse Asian Salads ube cheese foam cloud, @Kure Lab’s ‘Kirin’ with a butterfly pea powder cloud, and Devon Cafe’s & @ouji.sydney’s coconut cloud tops as examples 5️⃣ On a personal note, I will always love a fun dessert-y treat matcha😅 This month, I loved the tiramisu matcha from @Que.atbondi (ordered it 3 times), the lemon tart matcha from @matchameetssydney x @joanna, and the absolutely delicious and banana bread-esque Banoffee matcha from @sundays bondi !🍰 This isn’t a “best matcha in Sydney” list or even my “favourite matchas in Sydney” - these are just highlights of some of the (many) matchas I have each month, to showcase the more interesting and exciting ones worth sharing😌 I have an unsweetened, hot soy matcha latte every morning so these are definitely ‘treat’/more fun matchas! I cannot believe it’s taken me literal YEARS to try the matcha cookie from this Barangaroo cafe😱🍪🍵 Devon has been on my Sydney cafe bucket list for ageeees, and once we saw these Japanese sandos it was game over🤤 The bread was so fluffy and both sandos had the perfect amount of sauce (the crispy chilli oil on the spicy fried chicken sando was 🔥🌶️) - FYI the egg sando is a brekky only special and so worth the hype🤭 Their coconut matchas were so refreshing and had a great vegetal flavour - I loved their Mont Blanc which comes with a layer of creamy coconut foam on top🥥 The matcha desserts here are also SO yummy! I finally got my hands on that chewy matcha macadamia cookie, and it may be my new favourite lunchtime treat🤣🍪 Matcha cheesecake was also super light and spongey, a perf little arvo treat🫶 Save this if you’re looking for a great Sydney brunch spot in the city!💚 #devoncafe #barangarooeats #sydneybrunchspots #sydneymatchadesserts #sydneybrunch
