@photosbytrev: Back in January, I made a post saying my mom was the strongest person I knew. I truly believed at the time that the hardest part was already starting. Since then she has gone through chemo, surgeries, endless appointments, fear, exhaustion, and more pain than most people will ever understand. Through all of it she still continued being a mom first. Still checking in on everyone else. Still making sure everyone around her was okay even when she was fighting for herself. Recently we got news that completely changed everything again. What was originally diagnosed as triple negative breast cancer has now been determined to be an aggressive estrogen positive cancer. They found 6 more cancerous lymph nodes and now her doctors are calling it stage 4. I honestly do not even know how to process that sentence. Cancer has taken so much from her already. Her energy. Her peace. Her normal life. But it has never taken who she is as a person. She is still the most caring, stubborn, loving, selfless person I know. As her son, it is hard watching someone you love fight this hard while knowing there is nothing you can physically do to take the pain away for them. So instead I take photos. I document moments. I tell stories. Because that is the only way I know how to hold onto the people I love. This post is simply for my mom. I love you mom.
