@joelbervell: Let’s talk about Borderline Personality Disoder (BPD), it was one of the most requested videos in this series. BPD is one of the most misunderstood conditions in mental health. Too often, people with BPD are labeled "manipulative" or "toxic" before anyone stops to ask what's actually happening in the brain. Understanding the brain science doesn't excuse harmful behavior, but it moves the conversation from judgment to compassion. Let me know what I should talk about next 👇🏾

As a therapist, my heart goes out to anyone with BPD. They require care and compassion and unfortunately deal with awful stigma even from the very profession that’s supposed to help them.

BPD is literally the most painful thing ever. I know I’m exhausting, I’m exhausted myself.

The overlapping symptoms between BPD, ADHD, OCD, cPTSD, and autism are exhausting. 🫠 I'm diagnosed with the last three.

As somebody who had BPD, and is now essentially cured/in remission, thank you. It absolutely wasn't easy to be around me and interact with me, but it also wasn't easy to be me. Years of childhood trauma turned my emotional regulation into a ridiculous mess. The therapy really does work and it really can get better, even if it takes a lot of time and effort. Life is enjoyable now - it's strange and sometimes kind of alien to me, but I like it.

Remision is possible. Regulation is possible. If you are dealing with this and have access to cognitive behavioural therapy, try to take it. It is life changing.

I feel like I see so many informational videos about BPD brains and how they work, but so few videos about people who used to have BPD but went into remission and do not qualify it anymore. I am one. I had BPD for YEARS. had 8 of the 9 symptoms. Was institutionalized for an attempt when I was in high school. Now I still feel things strongly but I have coping mechanisms to nip it in the bud and move on without acting on my feelings. And I don’t relate to any other symptoms anymore. I did therapy for 4-5 years to get here. Does anyone else relate? Is this widely studied?

my mother has BPD from her childhood trauma, she's one of the nicest people I know, I don't understand the stigma around it, when you actually meet and know someone with bpd, it seems like any other person could have it.

Raising a child is a very sensitive excercise that when not done right can leave some permanent mental damage. It is not to be taken lightly.

I was diagnosed with BPD in 2021 and I've noticed it doesn't feel as bad when I'm single. In relationships it gets triggered so much m

Highly recommend the show Crazy Ex-Girlfriend for a really thorough, accurate, compassionate exploration of BPD. The name of the show throws some people off, but don’t let it 💕

My wife has BPD, and we've worked through a lot of issues, and ensuring she knows I wont leave her (willingly) is a constant. Still, its the healthiest relationship I've ever had

I’m a therapist. I have several clients with BPD on my caseload and so many are in remission. Empathy goes such a long way. I do sooooo much education on trauma and the trajectory of the disorder. There’s so much unnecessary stigma. Their actions are not always valid, but their emotions are, just like everyone else.
