For everyone who doesn’t have a lot of experience gardening: I have a lot of experience gardening across multiple states and the biggest thing for growing vegetables is full sun (I can’t speak for all of the southwest besides Arizona but in climates like that you’d need a sun shade made for plants). The BIGGEST issue people have is lack of sunlight, almost all of the vegetables we eat need 5+ hours of sun regardless of where you are

another sad thought is I just made a garden here in Florida. I planted potatoes carrots cucumbers tomatoes snap peas and a couple of strawberries. couple of months went by and I had to fight off insects. I ended up with maybe a couple of snap peas none of the potatoes grew with a damn the only thing out of all of it that really grew were the cherry tomatoes. gas lots of those. bottom line if I had to live off of what I grew I would starve to death and die anyway
