Correct. I’d like to add Dirrty came out after 9/11. This was a time when networks had 8 second delays to censor what images made it to the American public. The public networks were concerned with were yt and middle class. The government, who are very much tied to big TV networks, needed yt middle class Americans’ support to invade Iran & Afghanistan. They could further label brown people as terrorist without protest. Dirrty challenged people’s perceptions of femininity and sexuality because it looked chaotic, improvised, and unpredictable, much like how 9/11 felt to Americans. Christina could be framed as losing it to the chaos in the larger political sphere. So, the idea Christina needed to be saved, I think, is convenient. It’s a part of a larger narrative that yt women, like her, need to be saved from the chaos of more marginal identities

I typically listen to punk and metal... Stripped is the only pop album I've ever bought and I loved it. I always interpreted "stripped" as in she shed the former identity that was thrust upon her
