@englishwithrhys: Are English teachers lying to you? Let’s talk about synonyms. You probably learned that "synonyms" are words with the exact same meaning. But here is a secret: perfect synonyms don't actually exist in English! Every word in English has a special job or a different feeling. Take slim and skinny, for example: Slim = Positive. It means thin in a healthy, attractive way. Skinny = Negative. It means someone is too thin, or looks unhealthy. If you try to compliment a friend by calling them "skinny", they might get upset! Choosing the right word is all about the feeling it gives. Your Turn! If words have different jobs... what about tall and high? Do they do the same job, or are they different? Tell me your guess in the comments! #english #englishclass #englishteacher
Tall normal refers to height but high can also refer to degree or level.

I have noticed that. There is a slight difference. And the higher your level is, the more you notice the details.

To me, I think "high" is mostly used for inanimate objects while "slim" for animates.
