This is the oldest piece of Justin Bieber television footage that exists and it was recorded in a Canadian Christian talk show studio when he was still completely unknown. In June 2008 Justin Bieber made his very first television appearance at 14 years old on a show called 100 Huntley Street, sitting next to his mother Pattie Mallette and telling his story to two interviewers on a beige couch. He had not been signed to a label yet. He had not released a single song. Scooter Braun had just reached out. Pattie spoke about how as a single mother there had been times when she had no idea how she was going to feed him. She also shared that Justin had somehow become the most subscribed person in Canada on YouTube and the 20th most subscribed person in the entire world, which in 2008 was still an entirely new kind of fame nobody fully understood yet. She mentioned that both Usher and Justin Timberlake had been trying to sign him. Three years later Hollywood producers came back to that exact interview and licensed portions of it for Bieber’s documentary Never Say Never, and the two women who interviewed him that day ended up watching their own footage play in a movie theater surrounded by screaming teenage girls. Nearly two decades later Bieber took the Coachella stage in 2025 and performed Chris Brown’s With You while archival footage of his 14 year old self played on the screen behind him, a direct callback to the era that started on that beige couch in Ontario.
