I really don't understand how people aren't grasping that some of us can't afford to pay anything more into a pension or prepare for retirment. Some of us are fighting to survive right now and counting every penny. Shall we not eat for half the week to pay for retirement that we might not even reach.

Anyone born in 1980 or after will NOT get a state pension. Not until 75 at least. So it’s pretty scary

The problem is care. You work hard all your life and if you need care you get that ripped out of your savings and pension. If you don’t put anything away… you get the same care paid for you. So blow every penny and enjoy yourself!

By the time I retire I'm expecting the state pension will have been abolished and Reeves will have somehow managed to decimate private pensions as well... not looking forward to the future

I make 29K a year as self employed person . This year for the first time I opened a pension and put 16K out of the 29K thinking it’s tax deductible! Turns out I don’t have the same right as an employed person and I have to pay taxes on my money on the way in and the way out of my pension according to my accountant. So I am not gonna continue contributing any further to those 16K . What’s the point ???? Double taxation!

And their solution is tax iSA interest for those that want to have some savings to live on in the future without the risk involved in an invested pension

I'm a carer and that won't change till I die. £86 per week means I can't put anything aside. Millions of people are in similar position as me.

Whatever peoples views on pensions, let’s at least give this guy kudos for raising awareness on the subject, certainly doing more than the Government. Not everyone can contribute the amount recommended but I would recommend at least start with whatever you can, even if it’s just a stocks and shares ISA. Guys, teach your kids quickly.
