I think it’s not expensive, we pay the same 24 eur for a visit in public hospital in Italy, but waiting for your appointment can take from months to years, depending on the specialist you want to visit. I once booked in 2024 my visit with a senologist for the earliest in 2026 ahah. Do you need to wait the same long to get an appointment with doctors in a public hospital?

Nothing in life is free! You are paying for it with over 50% of your income being taxed.

So the system is. For doctors visits and polyclinical procedures you pay a copayment, but it is a yearly cap of about 300 US dollars, after that no more copayment that year.

Well, in the US we would pay $350 USD for my son to get a 15 minute check up that included: checking weight and height, and a basic body examination. We also got into a car wreck 1 years before moving to Norway. We needed medical care and so we scheduled our appointments with a GP in the US. The wait time was 13 months. We moved before the wait time for the GP for our appointments came up. However, in Norway, my husband finally got the medication he needed for his chronic migraines and we don’t have to pay $350 USD for my son’s basic check ups anymore.
