That's not common, but you should be able to downsize to an 18g. Most nostril jewelry is 18g or 20g, and even if they pierce it with a 16, if you start wearing the smaller gauge the tissue should be able to adjust

my nostril was pierced 18g and one day i lost my nostril ring and only had a septum ring. she stretched to 16g that day and is still 16g😭😭😭

I dont understand this maybe im reading it wrong. ive been a body piercer for 9 years, pierce all nostrils with a 16g flat back threadless and every topping we have works for it?

i love that my nostrils are 16g (both the high nostrils and my lower nostrils are). Sure, finding 16g rings is hard bc i only wear rings in my lower ones but i have had a lot of luck w/ Urban Body Jewelry and getting nonstandard sizes in the styles i want.

piercing at a bigger gauge is common and better for healing! especially with nose piercings trust its better to downsize eventually to 20 or 18 because a lot of the time, people wear L bent rings or cork and its a lot easier to get in if the hole is a little stretchier. I was pierced at a 16 and I wear 20's and its sooooo easy to change them out! healed super fast and no issues with finding jewelry.

Ask for lip/ear flatback earrings standard is a 16g:3 plus flatback is sm better than corkscrew or L bend!!

Unfortunately it is better to pierce with a larger guage and put a smaller guage jewelry in. It helps the healing alot
