@wtfrusrs: Of course not everyone can be at the same level at all times. The main thing is the DRIVE to be better is there, and you help one another to get up when the other is down. #relationshipadvice #narcissist #empathy #advice #growthmindset

But sometimes in the 2nd couple’s case the goal oriented person is the one that has issues with how comfortable their partner is

Look for a partner with common goals and morals, self awareness and emotional regulation. Everything else comes after, good luck out there.

yes that’s very true. we can’t force someone to be motivated or grow unless they genuinely want to. That’s why it’s important to be with someone who’s on the same wavelength or sekufu with us in many aspects of life.

I totally agree with your points. But about the second couple you mentioned, I think there's sometimes hope because people don't know their potential. They just need motivators and a push to get them out of their comfort zone to do better. This comes with experience, patience, and understanding. We agree that sometimes it is hard to do. However, you could change someone's life for the better if you show them the way. I agree that if it passes the initial stage and moves to like six months or a year, and you see that person absolutely incapable of change, I think it's better to leave.

My husband is growth oriented in his career, I'm growth oriented as a person as a whole- relationships, finances, etc. There's still some tension bcos we're not growth oriented in the same things

Defining growth would change this argument a little. While one side is comfortable doesn’t mean they don’t grow. Maturity comes with time. And contentment is the end goal. Growing financially is an never ending cycle, as long as the couple, the one who financially growing is content with the comfortable partner who support them in other function and continuously able to find time and function to love each other they will find peace.
