“That’s very kind, but no thank you.” Period. End of discussion.

this has happened all my adult life, too! I learned to stop accepting gifts and when my mom gets mad I don't accept the gift, I just ignore it until she's over it

Oh Man, this hit sooo hard but in a difference context for me. Just met with an old friend and stayed in a conversation way too long and it led to talking to all the “past sins” of why we went separate ways and boy did I regret staying in that conversation. Stayed way too long, too many words spoken. Dave is spot on!

Anyone serious about manifestation should read The Black Book of Wealth by James Cole. It shifted my reality and transformed my life.

A “gift” with strings attached is manipulation.

I would take it just because I’d be extremely excited to tell them “no” when they ask for something and use that as leverage.

You can take a car without strings attached. It’s you that lets them control you

I had a friend with very wealthy parents. She was very down to earth and not interested in the “finer things “. Her parents would give her stuff then make her life hell . She eventually realized she had to stop accepting the “gifts” if she wanted her sanity . She never regretted her choice to say no thank you to their offers .

My parents always used money to control us. I stopped taking their money at 17. My brother and sister are up to their necks in IOUs from them “helping” with their mortgages and cars and are now slaves to their guilt trips.
