My hot take: the internet is more like the reality of the world. People are more likely to show their true form when they assume anonymity. So what you experience in real life are people masking. They act cordial but you never really know what they’re thinking. In person we hope people are not bad and for security we all avoid talking about controversial things, that’s the only reason in person seems better. There is safety in ambiguity
