The failure of many is to seek from man what can be found only in God.” Jesus said in Matthew 6:33, “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” The soul that abandons fellowship with God in order to secure favor from men has already chosen the lesser portion. Prayer, fasting, brokenness, waiting upon God, and devotion to His Word are not religious delays on the way to blessing. They are the path where the heart is kept right and life is ordered by heaven. The favor that comes from God cannot be manufactured by networking, flattery, or human effort. “For promotion comes neither from the east nor from the west nor from the south. But God is the Judge: He puts down one, and exalts another” Psalm 75:6-7. When God is sought first, men take their proper place. When men are sought first, the heart becomes restless, dependent, and easily corrupted. The Church must recover this order. Return to the secret place. Seek the face of God before the hand of man.
