As someone raised on a council estate who now lives in a very middle class area, let me tell you kids out here (including. Mine) are riding pedal bikes at age 2 and 3, snowboarding and skiing before they even start school, going to theatre and attending extra curricular classes I’d never even heard of before they turn 6.

We discussed this in A level sociology its important that we are exposed or included in activities that are classed as extra curricular for the “ Bourgeoisie” youd be surprised the amount of people that have never even left their city before 18

YESSSS TO CAPITALLLL. you need all of it ! social capital, cultural capital, economic capital is all converted into currency. You just aren’t taught it in w/c state schools the way you should be (We teach this in sociology)

Wow this takes me back I walked the same kind of path and I met lots of upper class and middle class people who taught me a Lot. Half the opportunities I have been able to take advantage of came from my experience of being around people who think differently. You are one hundred percent right. ❤️

This is very true- having social mobility and social capital will open your world to many things. My kids go to private school and the way the parents share opportunities we would never know about in a state school is very eye opening

THIS! I told my eldest son this all the time. Made sure he attended a school where he was surrounded by middle/upper class individuals. He was then exposed to things he wouldn’t ordinarily would have been. Was able to network with certain companies and land himself at the top law firm within the country. Yes, he’s smart! He’s he’s degree educated but having those links to network, is what helped get him there.

We take our access to
knowledge for granted. Access to information is more
convenient than it has ever been in human history and we don’t utilise it enough. 💯 agreed you life will increase significantly with knowledge and that means having the information & knowing what to do with it.
