Spell mastery is one of the best features in the game imo. Silvery barbs, shield, borrowed knowledge, and invisibility are just a handful of crazy useful spells to have at will whenever you want

I still think they should have given the signature spells feature at level 5. Start it off at 2nd level, upgrade to 3rd at 11th. Wizards in d&d are literally *known* by their signature spells.

Wizard's spells are effectively infinitely customisable class features. They trade consistent class features for versatility.
