@therapistinrecovery: Let me tell you how I treat OCD (effectively and research supported) in 5 minutes with 3 steps! Are these simple? Yes. Are they easy? No. Can you recover from ocd? Absolutely I see it in my office all the time. Here are the steps: these will bring clarity to many of my other videos as well so please like and follow so I can create more OCD content! 1) notice it, call it out, ground yourself (which turns on your prefrontal cortex/logic center) 2) unhook and disengage from the thoughts while still making space for the discomfort 3) redirect to your values while avoiding the compulsive response. This is the exposure part! These steps are based in two evidence “gold standard” theories for OCD and anxiety. If this was helpful I also have an online course I’m creating to walk you through these steps and more in great detail. DM me your email to sign up! #ocd #ocdawareness #ocdtiktok #obsessivecompulsivedisorder #rocd
I’ve gotten better at doing all of this but it’s CRAZY how often ocd keeps trying to draw me back! But I just have to keep repeating the steps

You really do understand OCD. I find it strange how I can spend so much time struggling to figure out how I feel about a thought that I had that bothers me and still not come to a conclusion. But then still manage to do my job which involves solving complicated issues and workarounds using various software and at the same time get builders in to work on my house checking that they are doing things correctly etc.

I really like your style of therapy. I so wish you could do telehealth with people in other states but also appreciate why you wouldn't and we are lucky to have you on here!

My worse thing currently is physical contamination, I can’t touch pretty much anything and especially toilets, I have the whole checking thing of the toilet surface before using it and I’m so tired😭

The mirage analogy is such a good one. Also gave me a little chuckle because it made me think of the song Sabotage by Beastie Boys and now I'm going to be singing that to myself to help me disengage. lol

Could you organize your videos in categories? I often recommend your channel or try to share specific ones with my own clients.

This is so helpful. I always appreciate therapists who specialize in OCD posting on how to overcome it, especially since I've heard traditional talk therapy doesn't help OCD. It can be such an isolating experience. Where I live, there's few therapists around, let alone ones who help with OCD.
