@adivunsolicited: Before the Scramble for Africa, European kingdoms didn't conquer African empires they treated them as EQUALS The Kingdom of Kongo had an embassy in Lisbon, had the first African appointed bishop and ambassadors in Rome decades before the transatlantic slave trade began. Same goes for the Benin and Jollof kingdoms. The "uncivilized" narrative was completely manufactured to justify slavery and theft. and this myth has followed us into maternity. It’s crucial that we tell the actual history of the continent of Africa so those of us in the African diaspora can visualize ourselves to the correct lens and not through white supremacy and a white wash history that we’ve been taught our whole lives.
