I trained “leave it” which my highly cognitive boy understands means “ignore” and that covers multiple scenarios- when he must to stop the squirrel chase, what not to eat off the floor, and who to ignore as we walk.

We just adopted a 5 month old border collier / Aussie mix and her trigger is the neighbor dog barking at her when we’re in the backyard. She’s clearly scared and we’ve tried to modify times for walks and not going into the backyard, but it’s a bit tricky to try LAT, as distance is hard to add given fences, etc. We’ve only had our dog for a few days so any tips on how to make her adjustment easier while working on reactivity are much appreciated!! 🙏

I have a 2-year-old miniature dachshund, and I got another dachshund in January. Since bringing home the second dog, I’ve noticed that my older dog, Lego, has started reacting and barking at dogs and people during walks. He’s also barking more when people enter the room. Before we got the second dog, Lego was never this reactive, so I’m wondering if the change could be related. He often seems scared — he shivers, keeps his tail tucked between his legs, or sometimes holds it high with raised fur along his neck and spine. What are your thoughts on this behavior change?🙏🏽

You should do a video on getting a second dog! I’m getting a new puppy (9 weeks) with already having a (almost) 3 year old dog and I’ve found little to no info on going from 1 dog to 2! Things you need, things to know, etc

I think mine is doing better. We went on our walk today and an Aussie was barking across the street (this was him before), and he looked and stayed calm.. it got harder once they started running but I did give back to back treats to distract him.

question, I've been taking my dog to the same park for 4 months. Last month, he didnt react and we managed to walk past dogs parallel at 7ft. but the past two weeks, he has reacted to at least one dog (we go one to twice a week). if the last 2 weeks, hes been reacting - has it become a habit again?? I dont know how long it takes for a dog to practice something to become ingrained again

i think we did LAT wrong? My dog ended up associating it with other dogs so now if we say “look at that” she immediately barks and lunges even if nothing is there. It worked in the beginning for awhile but then slowly degraded into this pattern. So we don’t use that phrase anymore.

My dog used to react to any dog within 4 blocks, but in training this week we walked past our trainer and her dog and were only 10 feet away!

I know you have a puppy guide, but do you have anything for older dogs? my 1 year old is highly reactive, crying and pulling towards other dogs. she also nibbles non stop and jumps on people. I feel like we've tried so many things and she just doesn't calm down. she is a completely different dog when it's just me and my partner, calm and gentle, but with others she becomes unmanageable

Is there hope for a 5+ year old rescue dog. I’ve had Her for 3 1/2 years and use management in order to go on our walks. If I could get her to stop reacting to other dogs on our walks, it would be great.
