An opinion :
My first flat in 1998 was £180 a month. My wage as a newly qualified welder aged 18 was £320 a week. I saved for my first home quite easily. Completely different story 28 years later.

I feel like people don’t realize that people’s wages back then represented these prices. Everything wasn’t massively cheap ! It just sounds cheap. The average full time working adult wage was £70. That’s 280 per month for a full time worker !
