we went through a period of buying my mum an orchid for every mother's day. she's notorious for killing plants. she still has every single orchid they're alive and they flower and they're still in their original pots even 10 years later

I think this is important to add. No flower=\=dead orchid. Flowers are meant to die. Don’t toss your plant just because the flower wilts. The plant is still alive.

I use dried coconut husks, Spanish moss, and tie them to my coconut palms. mist with water occasionally in the evenings, or water with rice water
