not me crying reading Ancient Egyptian Blessings because it described exactly where I was stuck. If you want to shift your reality, this is it.

Your videos help me understand and connect better with people around me rather than just being stuck in my own beliefs

Something that i struggle with, is often feeling like I’m cursed. My mind always makes me feel like everything negative that happens to me is intentional. And no matter how much I try to rationalize it when things happen, I just can’t help feel like there has to be a higher force or curse messing with me. I don’t necessarily know how to explain it that well, but instead of being a normal amount of angry when weird things happen to me, I just feel powerless and like I’m being intentionally messed with, on a day to day basis. I brain washed myself with “ everything happens for a reason “ and NDE. And bashar. Now the smallest things make me so mad, because I’m like, why, why is this happening to me. It doesn’t make sense. It genuinely now makes me so mad. And I can’t seem to break it down.

good point. Teresa of Avila was smart, in her mystical writings she kept mentioning her obidience to the church, so they kind of left her alone in her lifetime, and made her Doctor of the church much later after her death

Have you read Barbara Ehrenreich’s memoir Living with a Wild God? It’s so fascinating; it recounts her experience as a second-generation atheist who has a mystical experience. It’s smart and complex and while she does end up exploring ideas of transcendence it’s not a conversion narrative. I would love to hear your thoughts on it!

Ramanujan received equations for black hole entropy from esoteric dream practices, before we knew they existed. Mysticism is about much more than an “experience,” this is mysticism without the ontological awareness about the ground of being and how that must be approach asymptotically. The mathematical aspects of mysticism show this isn’t just about some kind of enriching practice. Perhaps being too wary of such territory is itself a limit to what one can experience and achieve. Nihilism is the result of this confusion and separation.

Mysticism, awe, the drug experience, and the experience of creating new life are all ancient, evolutionary, neural pathways to the eternal now that the middle man of religion is always trying to filter, dam up, replace, or otherwise control.

Just listened to the podcast this morning. I felt like Simon was using mysticism interchangeably with awe and elevation type experiences, which I feel aren’t tied to religious and supernatural elements as much. For that reason I’ve not been a fan of the term mysticism to describe ecstatic experiences that I’ve encountered. Lately I’ve been liking calling these experiences, human experiences.

this is off topic, but I’m curious to hear your view: how would one know if one has achieved enlightenment? Is it possible?
