Kamikochi is just not worth it. Hakone is overrated. Wakayama is good. Ito is underrated. Miyazaki has nothing to see except for that shore temple. Takayama is good, but only if you travel to onsens outside of the city. Akita is greatly overrated and overpopulated, go to Beppu instead. Overall, good luck visiting those with the current train prices.

I've lived in Akita.Its a beautiful peaceful city.Someone said it's overrated when it's actually not.Tohoku region in general is underrated.But it's also a good thing to avoid from being overcrowded and over touristy.

as a solo traveler, wakayama was very difficult to get around without a car so make sure you get a rental car!!

Hakone is my fav place in Japan. Kamikochi second!! If you go to kamikochi, all I want to let u know is get back to the busses early 😳 We waited in line for two hours to get one the busses to get out. Almost didn’t make it

yes Kamikochi is really beautiful!!! But it is really far if you start from Tokyo. I recommend staying at least one night to explore Nagano

Go to wakayama. Check out Hashiguiiwa rocks at low tide, it makes these really beautiful tide pools and you can walk across to this tori. Susami aquarium let's you pet spider crabs and giant isopods. Nachi is also pretty good I go there every time.
