After opening Christmas gifts, our 17 year old daughter cornered me in the kitchen and said “dad didn’t get you anything for Christmas. Why are you here?” She was right. We never had another Christmas there. I moved out literally two weeks before the following Christmas and we had the best holiday ever. I never wanted my daughter to notice how much he didn’t care and she did. I’m happily remarried and she loves her stepdad.

Found out I was pregnant the next week with her sister. They’re now 7 & 5, and the 5 year old doesn’t want to know him. Being a parent is the best thing I ever did and I love my girls.
