After opening Christmas gifts, our 17 year old daughter cornered me in the kitchen and said “dad didn’t get you anything for Christmas. Why are you here?” She was right. We never had another Christmas there. I moved out literally two weeks before the following Christmas and we had the best holiday ever. I never wanted my daughter to notice how much he didn’t care and she did. I’m happily remarried and she loves her stepdad.

He looked at our teething baby, screaming, while I’m trying to cook his dinner and do a million other things and said “I regret becoming a dad”. Yep nope. Found out I was pregnant the next week with her sister. They’re now 7 & 5, and the 5 year old doesn’t want to know him. Being a parent is the best thing I ever did and I love my girls.

I had to make a rule that he had to talk to me after work for 5 minutes before locking himself in his computer room to game until bed. he would set a 5 minute timer and walk away when it went off, even in mid sentence
