@shabooki_sunshine: Corporatism does not mean “corporations control everything.” It’s the economic model most closely associated with fascism — but the theory behind it is way more specific, and way more seductive, than most people realize. The basic idea was: capitalism creates chaos, socialism creates class war, liberal democracy gets captured by lobbyists… so what if society was organized like one giant body, with workers, owners, farmers, industries, and professions all forced into cooperation under the state? In theory, it promised social harmony. In practice… well, that’s where things get complicated. #Corporatism #FascismExplained #PoliticalEducation #EconomicHistory #ThirdWay #Capitalism #Socialism #PoliticalTheory #HistoryTok #LearnOnTikTok #ClassPolitics #WorkingClass #AntiCapitalism #Ideology #HistoryExplained

Yeah except every time it's been applied any and all representation for the working class (workers unions, leftist movements etc.) were crushed, essentially subjugating the working class even more while corporations continued to profit. It just became state directed capitalism fueling itself on Xenophobia and imperialism. In theory it's supposed to be a form of class colaborationism. In practice what it does is it takes away any power the working class had in society, making this "collaboration" entirely one-sided. Fascism/Corporatism is simply Capitalism in crisis, hence why these movements always received heavy funding from the rich (Germany, Italy and even in the USA today).

The problem is it assumes all this groups will “just cooperate” with the state and people will “just not fight”. People will never “just” do anything, they will have to MADE to, which causes this to very rapidly devolve into fascism.

corporatism is not corporation it's the original word Corpus. just like how the Marine Corps is not a corporation, its corpus, like body.

All fascist movements that actually established regimes turned their nations into corporatocracies who were just bootlicking the Nazis or Italian Fascists. So in fact, spicy capitalism instead of class collaboration they wanted to achieve

Your explanation is good, but it should be noted that corporatism isn't in any way exclusive to fascism. It also has in different forms been part of liberal, Christian democratic, and social democratic systems. An example from my country the Netherlands is the polder-model between trade/worker-unions, employer-unions and the state. Personally I don't like it cuz it takes away workers real leverage of power, but it's also nowhere near fascistic.

it was part of the ideology of many christian democratic parties in Europe that reconstituted the economy after ww2. in belgium our current system has alot of aspects of corporatisme, like labour law being a result of negotiations between the corporate body of workers and the corporate body of business owners. there are more examples.

This is such a wonderful explanation, I haven’t really seen a lot of people get this right. I would like to say that corporatism can’t really be independent from fascism, mostly because the 2 ideologies pretty much perfectly mix. Fascism is literally just complete state unity combined with complete class collaboration, and it’s great. It is the purest form of democracy.

Corporatism “solves” class conflict in the same way that post ww1 social democracy tried to - protect the boss class by giving the workers scraps, while protecting private profit and accumulation. Its solution is for the bosses to permanently win the class war! That’s why it was invented! There’s a reason the working class was exuberant at the death and working class parties became the preeminent force in Italy immediately after!
