switch to using brave browser + duckduckgo search engine + ublock origin to get rid of ads! if you reslly want switch your operating system to linux, theres lots of different options and some linux systems that work almost the same as windows :D good luck

I have 10 laptops and 2 PCs with various operating systems. The moment I hooked one of them to the internet in my house, it showed me the same ads I have on one of my phones which never connected to wifi, only used mobile data. I thought those were regional specific ads, because of the location. No, I did google some stuff on that phone, and the computer showed the same ads. They connect the dots quite fast.

This is a great video for explaining how the data collection works and how you can stop it but doesn’t really delve into why anyone should care (other than doomscrolling which I don’t do anyways). Companies see masses of data instead of individuals so why should I care if it doesn’t affect me on an individual level? Would love to see an explanation for that! :)
