@bee.jeweled.coop: It’s broody hen season! 🥚🐓 You might find your chicken sitting in the nesting box more than usual and acting a bit… off. Fluffed up feathers, growling, being distant from the flock… It can look like something is majorly wrong with your chicken. Like, she could be sick 😩 But if she checks all the boxes in this video, she is probably just broody! If you’re not planning to hatch chicks, it’s important to break the broodiness because many hens stop eating, drinking, and caring for themselves properly. ✔️Don’t let her sit on the nest. ✔️Set up a broody cage on sand (the sand can help cool down her body temperature!) ✔️Keep the cage in a high traffic area (no cozy spaces) ✔️Only let her out to free range with the flock. Don’t let her go back in the coop or nest! This is simple, gentle and effective. Just a 1/2 day in the cage while the others are laying eggs.
