why do watercolor artists always leave their palette without cleaning it? im an artist but i dont use watercolors so im curious! i know you can re-wet it but what if you dont need that color again?

If you're looking for student grade paints, Cotman is good, but personally Van Gogh paints blow Cotman completely out of the water for me. They feel more pigmented and easier to re-wet. I know the price varies greatly between countries so if they're too expensive, maybe not, but if you find them at a good price, definitely go for them! Van Gogh also has a small "Dusk" line of dark granulating tones which are really cool, and good granulation isn't very common in student great paints

I'm big on 24 colors. 8-12, if I'm not in the head space, I can't be mixing colours. but 24 already has a good selection, so I'm more likely to sit down and just paint. less colours isn't necessarily a positive for a new artist just learning, if it's a barrier to them even getting started!

I ordered a big kit on Amazon and turns out I don’t really like any of the colors so I just use my primary and hope for the best when mixing bc I have no clue what I’m doing

Started with portable Cotman, I was stressing because It was a lof of effort to get pigment, I just assumed watercolour was that difficult....then I tried my tutors white night set and I was so excited, just one or two swipes on the pigment to achieve what I wanted, rather than using a ton of a pan in the cotman. 🙈
