part of the horror for me is that no one tries to help nikki at any point

I noticed that she was actually Relatively normal for seemingly weeks. To the point that people only thought she was going through something personal. It's wasn't until Bear asked her about her dad that she started to crack, because she realized he was starting to lose interest/second guess his wish

When I realized the book she was reading was upside down once I left the theater and that she was in the window when he was on the computer I went home UNCOMFORTABLE

Don’t overlook the clear foreshadowing: Bear never really knew Nikki. He was the only friend not aware about her estranged relationship with her father. He never really knew or TRIED to understand Nikki’s writing passion or intention about “no, it’s not a romance. It’s a love story”. Bear’s wish was made because he can only see love and romance as one, and he tries to FORCE his idea onto her, playfully illustrating a story about “no romance, only (obsessive) love”

I just realized that Bear is a cat person thru and thru and wanted a cool cat type girl. Instead he got a clingy dog type girl and couldn’t handle it

the AI part is so real and I haven’t seen a lot of ppl talk about it. she is an ARTIST, a writer and her being head over heels with AI generated image is just so out of character. Bear didn’t knew her nor cared.

my favorite detail about the montage is the AI generated image that Nicki and Bear are looking at. It reflects the fact that just like how the AI image is an artificially generated message created from a prompt, Nicki's love is the exact same. It is an artificially created love generated from Bear's prompt given to the Wish Willow

I think this also goes paired with the fact that he didnt even know her that well, he liked the idea of her. And when he actually got her, that idea of her changed, because it was never real. He didn't even know she didn't speak to her dad, and honestly didn't even care that she lied about her dad having cancer, when their other friends did.

like the fading of "the honeymoon phase" made it so obvious to me that he was getting seemingly bored of her and I was questioning his AUDACITY

I love the story she told and when she says "the love only a branch of a willow tree could conjure", illustrating how brittle this forced love was

Obsession is very educational. I truly love this movie. We have been blessed with the amount of meaningful movies in the last few years. We’re spoiled even.

I think what's funny is that this movie is essentially a parody of early 2000s romcoms, like I can see this stripped of the horror with like Adam Sandler as the lead

I love the small detail on the cover of the movie, the quote “Love is just a word,” a reference to the idea that saying you love someone is completely disconnected to whether you actually love them or not based on your behavior

Many stereotypical romcoms are now considered toxic too, when looked at with modern eyes. Think 50 first dates as an example. So using that stereotypical romcom montage style isnt meant to make you think positive ideal vibes, its meant to make you look a bit closer with those modern eyes.

this movie is so interesting. mostly because I'm surprised no one has made an Aladin connection yet. one of the rules he had is that he couldn't wish for someone to love him so Aladin made himself "better"

Maybe I missed something but I thought the montage only took place over 1 day and maybe at most 1 week. It’s the same breakfast, the same work shift, and same movie they watch. I think this head cannon makes your point more strong in that he literally would’ve gotten bored before the next trivia night.

Bear never wanted Nikki, he wanted the idea of Nikki and what he could make her.
From all the analysis talk of the movie I've watched, if Nikki actually did got with bear without the wish would bear still try to change Nikki
