I agree but many are switching to only HS Dance Team due to cost alone, the studio I went to in high school worked with the dance team and never started performances/comps until after the dance team season finished in February! So important to work together & not against each other!

as a dance coach I encouraged my dancers to stay enrolled in studio. the only disadvantage was getting them to practices and performances during comp season

Co-signed by this HS dance team coach. I can’t make it a requirement, but I strongly encourage my athletes to be in studio classes too.

The only problem I have is when you miss a studio group dance rehearsal or something and you don’t make a effort to ask someone who was there what you missed.

The problem with highschool is niaa won’t let you do both if the schedule conflict because most student can’t make a studio and highschool dance work at the same time but they’ll let you do it if the schedule don’t conflict

Here is the thing tho, my coaches are lovely and give us all of those things. All of the combos and strength training and tech and rehearsals.

I quit my studio senior year because I simply couldn’t survive 4 days of after school practice and 3 days of evening classes after—I so regretted it! But neither were willing to work with schedules 🥲 overall the politics ruined dance.
