The swirly dress phase is a canon event. I love it for every girl.

As a cis woman who never felt confident enough to wear dresses, I’m having my swirly dress moment now at age 27.

I still get lipstick on my teeth because I missed 30 years of practice. We can learn together girlies

I’m a mom to all girls. My youngest is trans and is the girliest of all my girls. It’s the cutest thing and my favorite thing about her. Idk if she’ll grow out of it but I’m here for all the stages 🩷

We all perform gender but performance of gender does not equate to it being “fake,” it’s simply part of the human experience. I wrote my MA thesis on this focusing on women in WWII and how they were represented, influenced, and shaped by advertisements in Vogue magazine

As an elder trans at 41, who transitioned in the 90s, you are correct. It's a very similar timeline

YES. I'm a trans man and this is still so relatable. I also really wanted to do the things I didn't get the chance to do as a kid: I craved the action figures and martial arts classes and rugby lessons I secretly pined for when I was little. I was fulfilling childhood dreams.

Remember wearing bright red lipstick the first time you tried it (in 2nd grade)?!? And it was all messy and it made uou feel SO GLAM?! I want every girl to have that.

Trans man here who experienced both canon events of womanhood “tomboy era” and “hyperfeminine era” before coming out as trans

I agree. I would add that when I first transitioned, I felt a lot of pressure to be hyper feminine in order to be publicly recognized as a girl. As I became more secure in my femininity and in being perceived as a woman, I gradually recalibrated my gender expression to be more nuanced and individualistic.

My daughter transitioned at 22. She’s worn more dresses in the last 4 years than I have my entire adult life. I think it’s adorable. She’s embracing her femininity and rocking it!

Watching my wife transition was so much like helping her through teenage puberty. All the insecurity and discomfort with being perceived and confusion with body changes were there. She just went through it later in life than I did.

This!!! Getting to know trans woman makes love being a woman more & more. I’m a pro makeup artist & do a lot of makeup lessons with trans women. They always want to start with learning to do color & creative makeup first & I used be confused why they didn’t want to learn the basics (aka neutrals) first. But now I’m like… they never got to play with makeup as a little girl. I loooove getting to teach them how to have fun & express themselves with makeup. And now I wear more colorful makeup on myself now cause they inspire me so much.

I have cPTSD so I didn’t get a normal childhood. I’m finally experiencing the beauty of womanhood, despite identifying as nonbinary, I still strongly connect with my womanhood.
