This is the ONLY way to get a flat and smooth surface on these joints. If you don’t do this, you’ll get uneven surface and future cracked joints! This young man knows his job!!🏆👍🏼

Remodeler who does his own drywall. I do this on my butt joints and fill it in one coat with the quick set bag compound. The next coat I tape. On my repairs plugs I secure the plug well and bevel all edges then use quick set bag compound and don’t tape at all. I have never had a problem or call back.

This is OK to do when you have a ragged edge so just pre-fill tape and coat and you’ll be fine
