@republic.observer: Senator Rodante Marcoleta is facing plunder and indirect bribery complaints before the Office of the Ombudsman after allegedly failing to declare P75 million in campaign donations in his Statement of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCE). During a previous Comelec investigation, Marcoleta admitted receiving donations from several individuals but argued that the funds were obtained before the official campaign period and therefore did not need to be declared. In a recent press briefing, Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla said Marcoleta had effectively admitted to receiving the undeclared donations. “He already confessed on his own TV show,” Remulla said. The Ombudsman’s Field Investigation Bureau also stated in its complaint-affidavit that the P75 million “can no longer be considered as an ordinary act of generosity but rather a corrupt act.”
