Also if you are running a ryzen x3D chip make sure you have set core preference to „driver“ in the bios and the ryzen driver installed. This alone gave me +35% performance because the 3D-vcache could work optimally instead of windows moving the game tasks constantly between CCDs!

they are absolutly not identical in performance just because the latency is same 😂

Where do you get the 2000 from ?

so why AMD has a "sweetspot" EXPO with 6000mhz and cl30? it says it's a 1:1 ratio but what does that mean?

I've been doing this for years lower clock speed ram is usually cheaper even if they have better latency so I just loosen up those timings and bump up the clock speed for my ryzen machine

So DDR4 that is 3200mhz and 16CL has the same speed as those ddr5? It also equals 10ns.

Your subtimings are also important. On top of that it depends on what IC you get. (ie Hynix A and M die are the best for DDR5 kits)

you are absolutely right. CL timing matters more. However not all CPU can handle lower CL timing. To fast of a CL timing can crash your computer. CL30 has become the sweet spot for ram.

for me lower latency is way more important than even more bandwidth...
therefore: 6000mhz, max. cl30, only dual kit!!
-> never gonna bet on silicon lottery to be able to run faster modules in 1:1 ratio

I bought a cl38 7200mhz kit and had 3 XMP profiles that first one, 2 is cl36 6400mhz and 3 cl32 6000mhz.. Didn't use any of them and tuned it to cl30 6000mhz 😂

you can overclock the 6000 kit to 7200

Barry :
Even though 7200 CL36 and 6000 CL30 both work out to ~10 ns CAS, 7200 is still faster overall because bandwidth and secondary timings matter more than just tCAS. That said, the real‑world gains are pretty small, so the price markup usually isn’t worth it unless you’re chasing every last percent.

I only knew that higher cl ratings causing bigger lag spikes occaisonally (in gaming) so I got a low value one when I bought my ddr4 ram 4y ago

For some applicants faster ram dosent really affect any thing but some things are noticeably faster

@Mia Mathematically it might be the same, but there will certainly be scenarios where it does make a difference. Or is this logic incorrect?
