I disagree. Gear does matter. Can’t show up to a wedding with a Canon 1100D with the 18-55mm kit lens.. The photos will not look good enough no matter how pro you are.

As a wildlife photographer gear matters heavy. Try catching small birds with an old lens that has slow AF motors

Agree with the “gear doesn’t matter” take. It’s a pay to play game. That being said, a gifted photographer can make a cheap camera do pretty insane things. Most people are not at that skill level though.

Developing black and white takes 1 hour tops (stand developing) and you leave it alone for most of that time and go and do something else.
