@silvanaa.barberaa: the amount of girls that I know on the pill due to terrible period pain to the point they faint ‘cause there is nothing else #birthcontrol #period #fyp #parati
Like I can acknowledge that the pill has made my life 100 times better, as well as being suspicious of the fact that it seems like the only option for these problems. I think that that’s what ppl don’t get.

I mean that’s because we’re not really using the appropriate name for it. It isn’t just “birth control” it’s hormonal medication that prevents or inhibits the menstrual cycle.

been on the pill since i was 11 or 12, due to extremely heavy periods. it’s helped definitely but i wish there were better options for people with those issues rather than just birth control

and it's not even a guaranteed treatment, it's just "oh this MIGHT work but it might also do nothing... or make it worse... but youre gonna take it anyway!"

i take the pill because it solved many problems and now i have no period and no side effects either. this is the case for many women and i think the villainising is unecessary, everyone is different so you can't say it's bad for everyone

What annoys me is that they never tailor it. For instance, I feel a panel of your hormone levels should be done before offering the pill so they can first try the pill best for your hormones (if someone is estrogen dominant, an estrogen based pill is going to make things worse for example…or if testosterone is high, an anti androgen pill would be better), but instead we have to go through this awful trail and error of horrible side effects and rebound symptoms until we MIGHT find one that works for us

I wanted an actual diagnosis for endometriosis, so i told the doctor "hey I think I have endo, what can we do about it?" so his response to that was "it could be endo, it could just be normal, have birth control" my DUDE, I just want to validate my feelings with an actual diagnosis idc how long it takes.

as a girl with adenomiosis, birth control changed my life. but it shouldn't be the only way of treating my chronic disease.

If I were single, I'd still get a new IUD. Not because it makes me feel good, the contrary in fact. But because I no longer have debilitating periods.

i love being on the pill, my quality of life improved a lot, but there should be options for people that aren't compatible with it. Also I can probably never get off it, since interrupting it after using it for years has a major health impact on most people.

I’ve been on it since I was fourteen. FOURTEEN. never used it as a contraceptive and I wish I could come off but I’m scared that I’ll just go back to how it used to be. I’m turning 20 this year btw.
