This make sense in general, but in my case not. I always bought housing more expensive than I could afford, but with possibilities to rent out parts of my home. I started with a 3 bedroom appartment and rented out 2 bedrooms. After 10 years I had paid down my mortgage. Then I bought a house and converted the downstairs area into a separat flat. Another 10 years and that mortgage was paid down. Now one year ago, I bought a 195 m2 appartment in prime location in oslo. I live in 120 m2 by my self. I have created three separate apartments, with their own entrance, bathroom and kitchen. In 5 years I will be able to pay down the mortgage. So in 25 years I have gone from $50.000 net worth to about $2.000.000 from only utilizing mortgage😉

There is no other way to buy a house without mortgage. They made it impossible. It is impossible for people with limited budget and no generational wealth to get a loan backed by assets and buy in cash like the rich do

I concur. I saved and bought my house outright in cash. Aside from important repairs and property tax, I have a rest of mind and save more. Unpopular opinion which people with financial illiteracy will not understand.
