@yasarahmad_: The email sign-off that quietly makes people take you seriously. And the one that's making them dismiss you. You probably don't think about your sign-off at all. Most people use whatever their email client fills in automatically. "Best." "Thanks." "Cheers." Maybe "Kind regards" if you're feeling formal. Here's what each one is actually telling people. "Thanks" - low stakes. You're asking for something small. No authority. "Best" - generic. You're not even trying. This is the blank template of sign-offs. "Cheers" - casual. Fine for coworkers. Dangerous with clients or senior leaders who might read it as unprofessional. "Kind regards" - trying too hard. You sound like a junior employee who just learned business English. "Regards" - cold. Borderline hostile depending on the context. Now here's the one I want you to start using. "Speak soon." Two words. That's it. Read it again. "Speak soon." Here's why it works. It doesn't close the conversation. It opens the next one. It signals confidence that there will be a next conversation without asking permission. It's slightly casual, which suggests you're comfortable. And it's short, which is a senior-person move. Long sign-offs are junior. Short sign-offs are executive. Try it for thirty days. Replace your default with "speak soon." Watch how people reply differently. They'll match your energy. They'll get more direct. They'll stop being formal with you. And if the context is really formal - a legal matter, a complaint, a serious business negotiation - use "Thank you." Period. That's it. "Thank you" at the end of a serious email carries more weight than any amount of "kind regards." Small change. Huge shift. Try it tomorrow morning. Send this to yourself as a Reminder and follow for more. Check the link in my bio to transform yourself, speak like an exec, get respected, manage toxic environments, get those raises and promotions.
