Most people watch the clip and automatically assume he is talking about women. But grammatically, he never says women. He says: “Alcohol has so many female hormones in it.” Then: “Once you drink too much, you can’t drive and you start talking nonsense.” The “you” is completely undefined. It could be him. It could be her. It could be everybody. It could be nobody. But watch what happens next. She immediately grabs ownership of the statement. Nobody assigned it to her. She volunteered. That’s why the joke lands. Not because of the content. Because she completed the circuit. It’s almost like he threw a fishing line into the water and she hooked herself. Then she says: “You know that you are a fucking bastard, right?” Now she’s defined the target. Not him. Herself. Because if she truly thought he was talking about himself, there would be no reason to react. The reaction reveals the interpretation. And then what does he do? He laughs. He doesn’t defend. He doesn’t explain. He doesn’t clarify. He doesn’t say, “I wasn’t talking about you.” He just drinks his coffee. Which makes it even funnier because now she’s arguing with a meaning she created herself. The whole clip is a masterclass in projection. A statement is made. A meaning is assigned. An emotional reaction follows. Then the original speaker gets blamed for the reaction. But here’s the deeper question. If a sentence can mean ten different things, and one person instantly chooses the interpretation that offends them, did the sentence create the offense? Or did the interpretation?
