Because in school, students are surviving, not learning. Some teachers—not all—do not really teach; instead, they just give a lot of work that consumes all of our time instead of helping us learn.

Our education system is useless. You might wonder why. Instead of students truly learning and leaving their comfort zones, many just memorize information without understanding it. The problem is that teachers and DepEd prioritize education, but not learning. There is a difference between the two. Education is simply passing down knowledge, even if students do not fully understand what it means. Learning, on the other hand, focuses on the students’ interests, understanding, and ability to apply knowledge in real life. That is why the education system feels useless to many students because if students do not truly learn anything, then education loses its purpose.

Ibalik nalang kasi yung old curriculum, teach them the body of letters, how to write their own excuse letters, write a poem, essay, do reportings, explain things using their own words/understanding. Ibalik ang spelling book and oral recitation of the topics discussed.

There’s just too much schoolwork now. Instead of actually learning, it’s all just endless tasks and requirements to the point where it becomes overwhelming. There’s barely any time to really absorb or process new things because before you even finish one, another one already comes right after. That’s why some people end up cheating or just doing anything they can to pass. Students are starting to chase grades instead of actual education. How can they not, when there’s barely any school and life balance anymore? The school system here in the Philippines is honestly getting really bad.
