@morilliu: why I didn’t become a SWE as a CS major … When I first switched to computer science, it was almost solely for an internship in big tech and a six-figure job afterwards. But as I explored more in the field, I realized that engineering wasn’t my specialty. I wasn’t too bad at it, but over time, it became clear that rather than chasing a title, I would be much happier amplifying my unique strengths: creating, storytelling, and product building. These are the skills I’m willing to work to become top 10% or even 1% at. Understanding technology and prototyping ideas through code served as a fundamental driver for me, but it was a means to an end rather than the destination.
