Kudos for the effort, it's hard enough for a group of 4-5 anything more is exponentially harder, especially when dining out. But I agree, comms are definitely key and the only possible fault is perhaps to try moving everyone together in such a big group. Everyone's tolerance, feelings, thoughts will be different, which I suppose why tour groups give free and easy time at the locations and just travel or eat together. It's a good lesson nevertheless, and also good to filter out those who you may now not get along with.
