actually, colon cancer survivor here. so, testicular cancer, prostate cancer, and colon cancer and even liver cancer are largely survivable these days, unless it's reached stage 4. lung cancer is still real bad but mainly (not always) limited to smokers or people who live or work around air pollution. breast cancer, along with lung cancer and especially pancreatic cancer, are some of the worst ones. pancreatic is deadly very fast though, so its patients unfortunately typically don't have as much of a voice as other cancer patients over the long term. that being said, breast is one of the worst and one of the most common, and its chemo is one of the hardest chemos to take, and its long-term effects on a woman can be drastic physically and mentally, like losing her breasts. that being said, most charities that advertise "for breast cancer research" or "breast cancer awareness" actually end up going towards the American Cancer Society, which obviously ends up helping all cancer types.

There are so many horrible things in the world we are exposed to via social media and the internet in general these days. And so many people are paralyzed by this to the point where all they can do is point them out to people around them without ever actually picking one of them and working to improve it. A pastor once told me “your calling in life is where your passion intersects with what the world needs”. I’m not religious any more but that stuck with me. Be the change you want to see in the world. Even if it’s a small change. Millions of small changes make a big change.

If one particular form of cancer is especially well researched and often talked about, we should consider encouraging the funding of research for other cancers as well. Calling attention to the fact that only one form of cancer is researched is appropriate.
