I was r*ped at the age of 5. My brother was 13-14. In no way would he had “no clue” what he was doing. He begged me not to tell anyone. I remember being 13 and knowing a 5 year old is A BABY!!

When I told my father I was sexually abused as a child by my older step brother, he told me my facts were wrong, my timeline was wrong, it couldn't have happened, and if it did i was old enough to have told someone. So, thank you for standing firm in your support for your daughter. She is lucky.

I will never understand why people are so desperate to exonerate him in some way and vilify you. I deal with the same. It doesn’t make anything better for the son - it only takes away accountability that should be taken.

My brother was between 14 and 16 when he abused my 4 year old daughter and 5 year old niece. He is in prison now, charged as an adult! My mother played the “he was just a kid” card and that triggers me so bad. Women who say that are the ones who enable predatory behaviors in adult men as well!!!

Bless you for saying this out loud. I was abused for YEARS by a relative who was only a few years older than me while we were both technically children. You know how I finally let go of the guilt and shame of it? when a therapist pointed out it was HIM who said don't tell. HIM who used threats and intimidation to make me keep that secret. and HIM who initiated every unwelcomed touch.

I was sexually assaulted by my cousin when I was 4 or 5 years old. Besides being a teenager, he also has some cognitive delay, so they beat him up and that was it. I grew up without anyone ever saying a word to me about what happened, and he remained responsible for taking care of other children in the family for years, as if what he did to me had never happened and he was trustworthy enough to be responsible for other children. I hate how men are never held accountable for anything.
