@doc4heart: I'm Dr. Michael Richman, a double board certified cardiothoracic surgeon. Yesterday in the Wall Street Journal, there was an article about a new cholesterol drug that is a game changer. First of all, it is not a single drug. Needless to say, I’ve gotten multiple calls and emails. In today’s video I’m here to explain why you should think twice before getting excited about new lipoprotein(a) lowering drugs. Stay informed; not all that glitters is gold! For further guidance or a lipid consultation, please go to my website at www.paladinmds.com #highcholesterol #heartattack #inthenews #hearthealth #cardiovascular
Thank you! A wealth of information! I’m going to talk to doctor about Rosuvastatin I have high LDL 😩 but total only 219. But my LPa is high too.

The last point is truly understated. The drug won’t be available to most patients unless you pay out of pocket or have lpa numbers through the roof.

Thank you so much for hopping on here and giving your professional input….. How long before we will have definitive results that would show reduction of cardiovascular events? Sounds like it would take decades potentially?

Had my appointment with my Gen Z PCP today. My LDL was elevated and she wants to start me on a statin. Told her I was following you and felt very comfortable starting it. I also requested if I could have my my Lipoprotein (a) and Apoliprotein B measured as well. She explained it was a one time test. Thanks for educating us and my PCP is keeping up with the guidelines.

My A was high, b not. Already had been on statin; doctor adding another med. He wants to get it lower than 70.

Thank you for your content. What would you do if you had elevated LP(a) {178} and a nstmi at age 47? Crestor dropped ldl 100 points to 64. Add repatha?

My lipoprotein a is 191, b is 97 and my ldl is 128 and I’ve never been overweight a day in my life. Hard to mitigate all the info thrown at me lately. Grateful to have found your page before seeing a cardiologist in June so I’m somewhat prepared

Excellent stuff, doctor! everybody’s always worried about lowering their cholesterol, which is understandable however is it not dangerous to lower your cholesterol too much? Is that a thing?
