Also important to note, Magnus is SO GOOD at chess that he was able to recognize the cheating in Hans, he knew he was making moves only a computer engine would make. To be able to recognize that in live time is INSANE, only the best of the best AND actual computers can spot cheating that way. Usually it’s just computer engines designed to catch cheating, and also evidently the GOAT Magnus Carlsen.

It’s nice knowing that there are some comedians who are still hilarious, without doing crowd work

I googled this out of curiosity. Apparently Hans (the alleged cheater) got caught cheating over ONE HUNDRED TIMES in online chess. Chess.com released a 72 page report on it lol. Needless to say, I don’t think the claims made against him are too far fetched 😂.

This isn’t technically what happened. They played the whole match (Sinquefield Cup - basically the Masters of chess), but Magnus had a very rare opening and Hans Neimann said he just looked at that opening the day before (mind you there are thousands of openings in chess). He won the match and Magnus said he felt he wasn’t playing a human. Chess.com actually reviewed it and they said he did not cheat in the match. However, he was caught cheating in hundreds of matches prior to this on chess.com and was removed from the platform

Hans Niemann was never caught cheating during an in-person, over-the-board (OTB) chess tournament. He was caught cheating online through statistical analysis and subsequently admitted to it. This story was a joke that went viral.
